I'm currently playing DQMJ2Pro And I like it the story is the same but it has more story line at the end. There are more monsters and you can make any monster a S rank monster. The translations have most of the menu translated (only missing some discriptions of some traits and the name if a very few items and moves).
The story plays the same as DQMJ2. You can find the translation patch on woodus forum it is a post by SOuimet and the latest translation is on the bottem of page 44. It is a ds game with a mirco sd card so you can play ds roms you got on your computer on your ds (acekard is one there are more I just happend to have an acekard). You can put multiple games on this card and it gives you access to cheats/game enhancers if you disire so. (This is handy for games like DQMJ2 where some monsters are impossible to get because they are wi-fi gifts). I have my acekard already for some years so I don't know the exact price but I think that it should cost around 20 euro/dollar. Double beat rune suikoden 2 gameshark.

There also seem to be already one for the 3ds I assume it can also play ds games but I'm not sure I don't have one. So I might look into getting one myself. They are not perfect though the ds can have proplems recognizing the cartridge or sometimes freezing the game this has to do with that the ds card is forged. But you can work around these proplems (removing and reinserting the cartrige works most of the time you might have to repeat it just a few times) and it is better that playing on an emulator in my opinion.
